WPU CAFE

A new craft beer booth opened at WPÜ Cafe

WPÜ (Wonder-Powered You) lifestyle hotel encapsulates the energy of Shinjuku. By bringing together guests of various nationalities and doubling as a student dormitory, it serves as a new kind of community space.

WPÜ Cafe on the first floor recently installed a new craft beer counter made from the solid wood of a table that previously filled much of the room. Now the cafe accommodates more customers while maintaining the appeal of solid wood – a successful example of sustainable renovation (SR).

There used to be an ordering counter in the back of the cafe, but the craft beer counter is placed where customers gather and converse. This contributes to a more lively atmosphere according to the counter’s designer, Kenichiro Yamada.

Rounded and wrapped in Ultrasuede®️ with a deep color and texture more engaging than paint, the counter top blends in beautifully with the surrounding space.

All craft beer served in the cafe is brewed in Japan and the wide selection changes weekly with a priority on brands from renowned areas in the Kanto region.

WPÜ now promotes Japanese craft beer culture while continuing to welcome people from around the world. We look forward to seeing this new fusion of craft beer culture and Ultrasuede®️ flourish in Shinjuku

The kanji characters (流石 = pronounced sasuga and created from two characters that respectively mean “flow” and “stone”) express a concept intrinsic to Japan. It expresses how things can be advanced in a way that amazes. The phrase “sasuga” is believed to have originated in observing how flowing, flexible water can move the large, hard stones of a mountain. This creative company was established with the aim of moving the entire world like “flowing stones” with their imaginative ideas.
