Creating a new space where the community connects
Ohta House in Yokohama is more than a real estate agency. It’s a partner that passionately supports customers in new lifestyle possibilities, as well as all areas of housing including buying, selling, renting, management, construction and design.
The company recently renovated its Idogaya branch based on a “HOME+” concept with the goal of creating a special place where visitors not only receive real estate information, but also discover local information and make connections with the community.
An archway extends from the entranceway deep into the store like a bridge that connects with the community and warmly welcomes passersby. Beige Ultrasuede® that complements the agency’s signature pale green is used on one wall beneath the arch. The soft texture, quality feel and appealing color of the material creates a calm and comforting atmosphere, while its superior durability, breathability and moisture permeability maintain a comfortable surface temperature throughout the year. The office seems to be celebrating the beginning of a new life.
A long curving bench on the opposite wall is topped with Ultrasuede®︎ cushions that gently embrace visitors. The material is pleasant to the touch with moderate breathability and moisture permeability that contribute to a comfortable seating experience. It’s a relaxing space with a view of green hues that evoke the warmth of the local community.
Akira Yamage, principal architect at mountain house architects inc., the design studio behind the project, explained, “This is not just a place that provides real estate information. It’s a space where visitors can discover new information about the community and connect with people. Our goal was to make it part of a warm community where new residents and those already living here can naturally connect and support each other.
With this renewal, the Idogaya branch has become more than a store. It’s a community space where locals can gather, interact and share the joy of starting new lives together.
