Mobile SS Hinohara

Charge your EV on workation
With MOBILE SS charging station

While the rest of the world shifts to EVs, Japan continues to prefer gas-powered vehicles due to the lack of charging stations, limited EV travel range, and long EV charging times.

To make EVs more appealing, DRIVETHRU online motoring magazine director Shogo Jimbo came up with the idea of MOBILE SS (Sustainable Station) – a mobile charging station that provides energy anywhere, anytime, making it the next step in service station evolution.

The first MOBILE SS is in Hinohara Village, the only village in Tokyo. TRAIL HEADS, a company that creates innovative office spaces, equipped its Office Caravan trailer with solar panels and a high-capacity lithium-ion battery to enable 200V EV charging.

This MOBILE SS HINOHARA charging station is used at Village Hinohara, a members-only coworking space. According to Yohei Yamaguchi, Representative of TRAIL HEADS, “The interior design prioritizes simplicity over travel vibes to help people concentrate on their work.”

Since details like fabric texture and cushioning are essential for a good workspace, they selected Ultrasuede® for the seats with a calm color that harmonizes with the natural scenery.

“The texture and color of the Ultrasuede® strikes a perfect balance between work and play,” noted Yamaguchi. The same material graces a folding Nychair for style coordination when working outdoors.

While workationing in natural surroundings, EV charging time becomes an opportunity for meaningful productivity and relaxation. Maybe it’s time to embrace a future that more comfortably balances work and play.
